JESSICA TAKLA

b. 20 March 1985

Jessica Takla studied photography at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago receiving her undergraduate Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in 2006. She has been practicing photography since 2001. She works in a variety of formats including 135mm, Medium Format, 4x5, and digitally. Motifs of empty interiors, using the context and formal qualities of the space reference absence and memory. Recent works include a grief documentary, which investigates the loss of one's spouse in American culture. It is titled Seventy-Five Times, because it is thought that people must tell their stories of loss seventy-five times before they can fully process their grief and find closure. 2006
